Bargaining update – 04 September 2024
Last week, we began bargaining with Geneva over the renewal of your collective agreement. Our combined bargaining team with the PSA put forward a strong case for the claims our members collectively endorsed.
Over the two days, we made it clear that Geneva must reflect the value of the care you provide in your work as an outcome of these negotiations. The nature of bargaining was constructive from all parties, and we told Geneva that we expect to be presented with a proposal on a pay rise and other investment in members’ terms and conditions when we next sit around the table in the coming weeks.
We will continue to keep you informed of developments in bargaining and encourage you to speak with your bargaining team delegates to express your views and hear information throughout the process. It’s also an important time to be talking to non-members and getting them to sign-up! The more members we have, the more power we have to help get you a better deal.
Paper-based timesheets communication – 04 September 2024
We’ve become aware that Geneva has sent out an email to support workers announcing an end to using paper-based timesheets by 1 October. The use of timesheets and moves to a paperless system is something Geneva has been working towards for some time.
However, they have presented a claim in bargaining about this and as such, we do not feel it was appropriate for Geneva to send out the communication at this time.
We have raised some concerns about the communication, and we are working to clarify the situation with them.
If you do move to digital timesheets it is always best practice to keep paper records for yourself. These may be a copy of your roster with your own notes on it, or a photo of the digital timesheet.
