Do you believe in strong union leadership? Want to help shape the future of E tū?
Nominations are now open for five key positions on the E tū National Executive – our union’s elected governance group. This is your opportunity to stand up, represent your region, and be part of the team that helps guide the direction of Aotearoa’s largest private sector union.
The roles open for nomination are:
- North Island Vice President
- South Island Vice President
- Northern Regional Representative
- Central Regional Representative
- Southern Regional Representative
You can stand for a regional position if:
- you live in that region (see regional boundaries below)
- you’ve been a financial or life member of E tū continuously for at least the past 12 months
- you are nominated by two other financial or life members (a nominator and a seconder) and you confirm in writing that you accept the nomination.
A nominator and seconder are two E tū members who support your nomination. They must both be financial or life members of the union and willing to endorse you for the role, and must also live in the same region and have been a financial or life member of E tū continuously for at least the past 12 months.
Regional boundaries are:
- Northern: Northland, Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty
- Central: Wellington, Wairarapa, Manawatū, Whanganui, Taranaki, Hawke’s Bay, and Tai Rāwhiti
- Southern: All of the South Island, including Stewart and Chatham Islands
To make a nomination:
Fill out this online nomination form below by 5pm, Sunday 15 June 2025.
Once confirmed, candidates will need to prepare a bio about themselves that is between 100–200 words, which will include:
- A short introduction
- What motivates you to stand
- Why union values matter to you
- What your focus would be if elected
You will also need to include a photo of yourself for our election materials.
If more than one nomination is received for a role, members will vote at our Biennial Membership Meetings in September. If you accept a nomination, you will be expected to speak to other E tū members about why you’re putting your hand up. You will be required to attend at least the first meeting in your area and the presentation will be recorded and available to BMM voters at the end of the meeting.
