The Government has changed the Equal Pay Act under urgency, shutting the public out of the process and making it harder for people in low-paid, undervalued jobs to get the pay equity they deserve. In response, a group of former MPs have launched a People’s Select Committee – a public forum where workers and communities can still be heard. E tū is collecting short videos from our members and supporters to submit to the Committee and share online, so the voices the Government tried to silence are impossible to ignore.
How to make your video
- Keep it short –30–60 seconds
- Film vertically (portrait mode – like on Instagram)
- Start with: “I wish to make a submission to the People’s Select Committee on Pay Equity.”
Then, speak from the heart. You might want to talk about: - who you are and what you do
- why pay equity matters to you
- how these changes affect your life, your whānau, or your work
- what it says about how women and care work are valued
- why you feel disappointed, angry, or betrayed.
